Art Exhibition at the Valo and Kilo gallery of the University of Lapland

The Design Connections Doctoral School is run by the University of Art and Design Helsinki and the University of Lapland. The research approach in the Design Connections doctoral school is multi-methodological and it clarifies design research practices and theory-making through investigating the designerly ways of knowing, learning, and knowledge generating. In addition to traditional academic research, substantial emphasis will be but on linking design practice with research. More information about the doctoral school.
At the Summer School 2009 Design Connections Doctoral School students were encouraged to work with their research topics in a creative and experimental way. The results of the workshop could be presented in another mode than writing e.g. in a form of installation, performance, video, painting or any kind of three dimensional artefact. The results from this experimental process are now exhibited in the “Art from research” exhibition.
